Gender Based Violence Annual Report 2022

FCS Staff and Volunteers become certified Natural Helpers

During the first quarter of 2022, the FCS staff and volunteers participated in a 12-session training lead by the Gender Based Violence (GBV) team. The staff and volunteers learned more about domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. At the end of the training, every staff member and volunteer received the Natural Helper certificate of completion.

Senior Trainings

In addition, GBV provided educational content to our senior members during the Senior Lunch Program. The FCS seniors travelled to the Filipino American Community of the Yakima Valley in Wapato for a joint educational training to increase knowledge and awareness of domestic violence in our community.

Youth Trainings

We also provided training to Youth Development college-age students at the Filipino Community Center who attend the University of Washington and Seattle University. The students were taught precautionary and reactionary awareness around the topics of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Jennifer Cruz presented the Laws of Statutory Rape in Washington State, Consent Law in Washington State, and the legal meanings and penalties of RCW 9A.44.089 and RCW 9A.44.093.

Ongoing Trainings

There are ongoing sessions for Natural Helper training virtual class by GBV every Mondays from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. and are conducted by Eldred Laude and Susan Bagby.
